Volunteer with EPIC

EPIC Volunteers are the soul of our EPIC community

Why Volunteer with EPIC

Volunteering reduces stress, gives purpose, and increases self esteem and wellbeing.  Supporting others to put on their own oxygen mask helps our own journey and allows us to provide much needed support we ourselves once needed in times of stress.
Volunteering with EPIC is volunteering for the good of our community. The heart and soul of volunteering for EPIC is to support parents to support their young people.  Our young people are our now and our future.

  • EPIC Walks Team Leaders are the heart of the EPIC community. They welcome and nurture parents in our group walks, co-facilitating with other EPIC Walks Team Leaders, to ensure all parents are heard, respected, and supported.

EPIC walks are fun! They provide an outlet for parents to share experiences, information, and friendship. Great ideas are born and many laughs are shared.

EPIC Walks Team Leaders will receive YMHFA training, Communication with Care training as well as constant support from the EPIC team. EPIC will support volunteers to grow their knowledge of the youth and family support sector and provide regular updates and access to sector training.

Your coffee is on EPIC! Volunteer travel expenses to and from EPIC walks will be reimbursed.

Volunteering with EPIC grows new friendships and provides greater insights into the youth and family mental health sector.

What our volunteers are saying:

I welcomed the opportunity to volunteer with EPIC to share my experience in the NFP sector and bring my skills to the Board to support the growth and development of this grassroots organisation. It is inspiring to work with the CEO and founder and the other Board members as we focus on a common goal and provide support to the EPIC team who provide this essential peer support for parents.

— Rowena

When I was living the challenges of being a parent in crisis I really struggled to find support and someone, anyone, who could help me get through the awful experience. I really wanted to help breakdown the barriers of judgement parents experience, and I wanted to help other families in crisis understand they aren't alone. EPiC has enabled me to do this. One of the best things for parents in crisis is to have another parent with lived experience to talk to. We get it. We’ll listen without judgement.

— Roberta

Volunteering with Empowering Parents in Crisis is humbling. Witnessing parents' struggles firsthand motivated me to offer support. Together, we sought resources and built a stronger community. It's rewarding to see parents feel empowered, and it's an experience I highly recommend.
